On Saturday, April 30, the Rocky Mountain MESA Jamboree will come to the Mines campus! The Jamboree is a state engineering competition and showcase of middle and high school students, from 20 schools throughout Colorado! These students have been participating in the 2021-2022 Rocky Mountain MESA (Math, Engineering, Science Achievement) program.

The Jamboree will feature a design brief, a design pitch, poster session and technical review, to help give these students feedback and encouragement on their work so far. Teachers, advisors and parents of students will be able to attend.

RM MESA is run through the Colorado School of Mines and NREL Nexus. Graduate students and mentors engage middle and high school students one day per week for an entire school year, focusing on design and engineering challenges. This year’s theme is “human centered design” and launched with the start of the academic school year. The benefits of this potent and persistent educational club to students and STEM fields will be on showcase at the April 30 event.

The Jamboree will bring these students together to compete for the state title or just to showcase their student designed prototypes. This is a fast paced competition and celebration of student design engineering creations! This will mark the first of many RM MESA engineering events on our campus and we are proud to support this event. Thank you to our private and industry donors for making Rocky Mountain MESA possible!
