Announcing the 2025 Mines-NREL Nexus Seed Funding Opportunity
We’re excited to share that the 2025 cycle of the Mines-NREL Nexus Seed Funding Program is now open!
Launched in 2020 under the broader Mines-NREL Nexus partnership (established in 2019), the Nexus Seed Program aims to spark collaborative research between Mines and NREL by providing early-stage funding. The goal is to help teams prepare competitive proposals that can lead to external support and long-term research partnerships.
We encourage proposals that align with anticipated future funding opportunities across federal agencies. While all Mines–NREL collaborations are welcome, priority will be given to proposals that include Joint Appointees from either institution.
Eligible proposals must include meaningful collaboration between Mines and NREL researchers and clearly demonstrate how the funds will support a future competitive joint proposal.
Only one application is needed per proposal team and may be submitted by either PI, from Mines or NREL.
Proposal Deadline:
Friday, June 6, 2025, by 12:00 PM (noon)
Anticipated Award Notification:
Mid-June 2025
Project Start Date:
July 1, 2025
Deadline for NREL Work Completion:
September 12, 2025
